May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 13th July 2021.
The readings are from Exodus 2:1-15; and the Gospel from Matthew 11:20-24.
Blood is thicker than water.
We tend to forget people who helped us in life when we do well in our life. We lean forward to our families than to those who stretched out their hands in our need.
Moses was found by the daughter of Pharaoh in the river of Nile and took care of him to grow up as a young man. Yet, his heart was pulled towards his people and peeled apart from the luxuries of the royal treatment. He even went to the extent of killing an Egyptian to protect a Hebrew. Our bonding with our families is much deeper and so subtly connected.
Forgetfulness and ungratefulness could cause our life. By a first-hand reading of the Gospel, we wonder whether God is tired of loving us because we are not tired of sinning and become selfish to the core.
God expects a certain amount of quality in our faith. God takes it seriously when we wish to continue with the past and tend to hold on to the strings of the past. God never intends to curse us but surely curb us doing evil. “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (Jn.15:8).
Is our bonding with our families and its ties alienate God? Have closed our hearts towards all that God has done to us in our life just because of connections with immediate families?
May we value God’s goodness towards more than anything in this world. Have a peaceful day. God bless you.
