It is 08th January 2020. The readings are from 1 John 5:5-13 and the Gospel from Luke 5:12-16.
Intimacy with Jesus brings healing in our life. The moment we believe and accept Jesus as our Saviour, we begin the journey of healing in our life. Healing is a process that happens in the efforts of faith encounter with Jesus.
We all love God, or we are taught to love God in our families. Whatever the situation we come from, there is a longing to be touched by God. God’s offer of eternal life in Jesus is visible and healing touch in our personal and communal healing.
St. John confesses that eternal life is not possible without knowing, loving, and believing in Jesus. To overcome the temptations, fear, anxiety, worries and worldly problems, we need to have faith in the Son of God. “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn.5:5).
As we are still reeling and rowing in the current of the pandemic, Jesus encounters us personally asking ourselves the questions as He asked the man covered in leprosy. “Lord, if you choose, you can make me clean.” and the answer of Jesus will be same even today to each one of us without any condition whatsoever, He says, “I do choose. Be made clean.” (Lk.5:12,13). Feeling the physical, spiritual, social alienation of the man, Jesus touched him. To touch a leper who was ostracised by the community is the choice Jesus made. He not only healed him physically and restored his dignity in the community. Whatever leprosy we have whether it is spiritual, psychological, relational, or social, Jesus can heal us. All we need to do is to express our desire to be healed by Him. May the Lord help us to accept the offer of healing and enjoy eternal life. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
