It is 1st December 2020.

The readings are from Isaiah 11:1-10, 11-14; and the Gospel from Luke 10:21-24.

The birth and rule of the Messiah much awaited Good News for the entire humanity. Peace is the assurance of the Messiah to all who eagerly wait for Him.

The prophecy of Isaiah points out to the Messiah who is endowed with the gifts of the Spirit of the Lord. He is endowed with the beautiful gifts of the Spirit. The Spirit of God hovered over right from the creation guiding, instilling, inspiring and encouraging the Judges, the Prophets, the Kings and endowed Joseph with wisdom and on the Baptism at Jordan, God’s Spirit came and rested on Jesus. It is the same Spirit helps us to discern in every move we make in our lives.

The Messiah was endowed with the gifts of the Spirit of God like that of wisdom of Solomon, courage of David, knowledge and fear of the prophets, and He will not go by what He sees rather by truth, justice, sensitivity and giftedness. Peace provides the integrity to judge in harmony and honour. “He shall not judge by what his eyes see or decide by what his ears hear; but with righteousness he shall judge the poor and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.” (Is.11:3). In Jesus, we rest our hope. The history of Israel is not a story

Jesus claims in the Gospel that wisdom is given to Him by the Father. To know and love the Father, we need to believe and follow the Son. We tend to take Christ the Messiah for granted. Wisdom and understanding comes to the simple and humble hearted ones. It is by strengthening our relationship with Jesus, we come closer to the Lord.

There is a profound difference between looking and seeing. We go deeper in looking unlike seeing the peripheral. We are all so blessed to be near Jesus and so we have the sole responsibility to bring others near Him too. The Advent is the time to listen keenly to Him by spending some quality time with the Word of God. It is the time to count our blessings not our sins and failures. Having Jesus in our life is the best blessing of our life. We need the mind of a child to look what God looks at in us. Finding goodness in others is the proof we believe in Jesus.

May the Lord help us to invite the Holy Spirit to experience the gifts of the Spirit. Have a lovely day.
