It is 05th April 2015. The Easter Sunday. Jesus is truly risen, Alleluia. The readings are from Acts 10:34a, 37-43; Col.3:1-4 and the Gospel from Jn.20:1-9. Today we are celebrating the victory of Jesus over death and darkness symbolizing our own daily rising to new life. We are refreshed and renewed because of the Risen Lord. Easter means the feast of fresh flowers. The first reading brings out the powerful message that Good News is for everyone. The Good News is Jesus lives and forgives His people. “Everyone who believed in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.” (Act.10:43). The responsorial Psalm rightly sings, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” (Ps.118:24). The second reading invites us to believe and behave like people who believe in the Resurrection of Jesus. “For you have died, and your life hidden with Christ in God.” (Col.3:3). The Gospel account presents the first witnesses of the resurrection. Mary Magdalene, Simon Peter and John were surprised and believed that the Lord has risen. Jesus fulfilled His promise of rising from the dead after three days. We must believe that His words will never fail. The resurrection is to show that Jesus is the Prophet par excellence. The divine power in Jesus is also available in the Sacraments of the Church. Let us become the witness of the ever living Lord and Saviour Jesus. Wishing you all a very happy Easter.
