It is 10th May 2015. It is 6th Sunday of the Easter. It is Mother’s Day. Thank you for accepting to be a mother and continue to expand the love of God through your sacrificial love. May the Lord truly bless all the mothers today. The readings are from Acts 10: 25-26,34-35,44-48; 1 John 4: 7-10 and the Gospel from John 15: 9-17. The first reading vividly presenting the baptism of Cornelius and his family. The Holy Spirit came on them as Peter was speaking to them. God is not selective in God’s love. “God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears God and does what is right is acceptable to God.” (Acts.10:35). Love is very personal and it has to be experienced personally through participation and encountering divine love. In the second reading, St. John offers the most powerful statement on Love. Mere knowledge alone will not be enough, we need love to interact with God. “Let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” (1Jn.4:7). The proof of God’s love is God’s beloved Son, Jesus who came among us a person, suffered for us and redeemed us. The responsorial Psalm prays, “The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power. (Ps.98:2). The Gospel invites us to love one another. Our reference point and model of love is from Jesus. The fullness and flawless love of God through Jesus is given to us. We are here around on earth to experience and expand the love of Jesus as a believer. When we truly love people, we can get everything we need from the Father. “Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my commandment: Love one another.” (Jn. 15:17). Wishing all mothers a happy mother’s day.
