It is 23rd August 2015. It 21st Sunday of the Ordinary Time. The readings are from Josh. 24:1-2a,15-17,18b; Eph. 5:21-32 and the Gospel is from Jn. 6:60-69. The first reading invites us to have a decision of faith whether to follow Lord or other gods. We all have to make this choice for God or against God daily. The choices we make spiritually affect us deeply our other realms of our lives. We need to make the choice serving God without expecting anything that will bring abundant blessings Joshua and Paul invite us to take a decision. The Responsorial Psalm praises, “Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.” (Psalm. 34:9). The second readings speaks about the essential unity required between the Body of Christ and the followers. As we become one in the eucharist so the members need to be united to Christ. The Gospel brings out the reactions of the people towards the Eucharist. Jesus calls the Jewish people to make their choice towards the new covenant though his most precious Body and Blood. We can never have peace away from the Eucharist. Let us be faithful to the Lord in the Eucharist. Many may leave on account of the Holy Eucharist yet we need to make the choice to be with Jesus. Simon Peter said, “Master,to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (Jn.6:69). May the Lord help you to choose God and live for God all through your lives. May God bless u and have a good day.
