It is 01st October 2015. It is the feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. She was known for her “little Way” which leads us to God. Her book “The Story of a Soul,” is a must read for every Catholic. She is the Patroness of the Missions. She said, “There is just one thing to be done here on earth: to love Jesus and to save souls for Him, so that He may be more loved.” In the entrance Antiphon, we read, The Lord led her and taught her, and kept her as the apple of his eye. Like an eagle spreading its wings he took her up and bore on his shoulders. The Lord alone was her guide. The readings are Is. 66:10-14c and the Gospel from Mt. 18:1-5. God promises us in the first reading that God comforts God’s people. “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; (Is. 66:13). In the responsorial Psalm we pray “In you, O Lord, I have found my peace.” (Ps. 131:1). The Gospel invites us to be innocent, holy, active, innovative, curious, ever ready as a child. “Unless you change and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Mt. 18:3). We are invited by Jesus to be child-like not childish. Childish people argue and criticize over petty issues forgetting the overall picture. The childlike nature brings out the humility and sincerity of heart. As children trust their parents and the adult, so we need to trust our God. May God help us to be childlike in relating with the other in professing our faith. May God bless you and have a good day.
