It is 08th November 2015. It is 32nd Sunday of the Ordinary Time. The readings are from 1Kgs.17:10-16; Heb.9:24-28 and the Gospel from Mk.12:38-44. The first reading enlightens our minds about a widow during the drought shares her meager resources with the man of God and being blessed by God for her faith and generosity. When we give in love and faith, “The jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry.” (1Kgs. 17:16). Generosity however little it could be makes God to turn towards us and to show God’s countenance on us. The responsorial Psalm acclaims, “Praise the Lord, my soul.” (Ps.146:1). The second reading strengthens our hope looking forward in meeting Jesus who offered himself once for all and completely for our salvation. “Christ offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to take away sin but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him.” (Heb.9:28). The Gospel reiterates the widow’s offertory amidst her poverty. Whatever small we give, it is so significant in the sight of god. In giving size does not matter but giving with love matters. It is better to give something than nothing at all. God is waiting to receive from us however small it may be. God looks forward to meet the cheerful giver. “For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mk.12:44). Let us not give God to attract attention and admiration of people. There must not be duplicity and hypocrisy in our giving. Let us become authentic and generous from the bottom of our hearts in giving. God is looking for a quality of giving from us not interested in our quantity of giving with self-publicity from us.
