It Is 15th November 2015. It is 33rd Week in Ordinary Time. The readings are from Dan.12:1-3; Heb.10:11-14 and the Gospel from Mk.13:24:32. Today is the second last Sunday of the Church liturgical year. We are looking forward to the coming week to celebrate the Christ the King. As the church brings its liturgical year to an end, it traditionally presents the knowledge of the end times. This gives us the message that Jesus is the beginning and end of all things, all things exist in and through him. He is the Alpha and the Omega and he is the source of all things. The first reading describes that how God cared for his people through the years of persecution and oppression by Persia, Greece and Syria. . Michael will be the great prince and guardian of the people. God’s holy people will rise to everlasting life and the wise among them will shine like stars against the dark of the night. The responsorial Psalm prays, “You are my inheritance, O Lord. (Ps.16:11). The second reading brings out the importance of the priesthood of Jesus so as to strengthen us in our faith in wiping our sins. The Gospel of Mark offers hope to all those who were persecuted during the time Emperor Nero, and encourages all those who believe in Jesus will be rewarded for their faithfulness. The parable of the fig tree is to make us to be aware of the signs of the times and be ready. The end is near and sure and no one knows the hour. “But of that day or hour, no one know, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Mk.13:32).
