It is 26th November 2015. The readings are from Dan.6:12-28 and the Gospel from Lk.21:20-28. The first reading presents Daniel’s escape from the jaws of lions. With prayer, God on our side, we can deal with any challenging situation. Daniel used personal prayer as the source to face the imminent danger. Just like Daniel, when we are faithful to God, all that is plotted against us will just disappear. Let us not doubt God in times of problems and challenges. Evil will be punished by God in God’s time. We need to be faithful at all times. Our faithfulness and connectedness to God will make us face any situation and make us to emerge victoriously unharmed. The responsorial Psalm prays, “Give glory and eternal praise to God.” (Dan.3:59). The Gospel speaks of the fall of Jerusalem. People of Jerusalem began to put their trust in money, power, violence and ended up relying on their might rather than God. This led to spiritual emptiness and spiritual bankruptcy. The result of unfaithfulness and killing the messengers of God is the fall of Jerusalem. The greater the crime, the greater the punishment. Those who do not believe what we believe will one day destroy all that we built. We must not be tired of being good and lethargic in doing good. We need the persistent faithfulness in God to face these challenges. “When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.” (Lk.21:28). Let God deal with the evil people, and we shall always try to be faithful to God.
