It is 04th December 2015. We celebrate the memorial of St. John Damascene, the Priest and the Doctor of the Church. The readings are from Is. 29:17-24 and the Gospel from Mt.9:27-31. The first reading offers hope in the rule of Christ. There will be a spiritual, political, economic revolutions during the messianic age. The present order will change. There is hope for all people. The rule of Christ will be completely different from the rule of today. There will be joy, understanding, happiness, justice, worship and praising God during the messianic rule. The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord is my light and my help.” (Ps.26:1). The Gospel presents the healing of the blind and mute men. Jesus did not want to grant the petition of the two persons who needed healing. Jesus wanted to know whether they have the required faith to receive the healing and questions them. He is testing them. Our petitions are delayed just because God wants to test us whether we are persistent in our faith. “Your faith deserves it, so let this be done for you.” (Mt.9:29). Does our faith deserve the healing we ask from Jesus? Our faith in Jesus is the basic and foundational requirement for any healing. Our situation can only change when our faith in Jesus is deepened. Nothing becomes an obstacle to our faith so as to receive the complete healing from Jesus. May God bless you with peace.
