It is 31st December 2015. The readings are from 1 John 2:18-21 and the Gospel from Jn. 1:1-18. Today is the last day of the year. It is indeed the day of thanksgiving to the Lord for bringing us all this far. Let us find some time to be with the Lord in the nearest Catholic Church as a token of gratitude to the Lord. The first reading addresses that anyone who is against Christ as an antichrist. We need to be watchful about those people who were with us once yet never belonged to us left the church embracing some kinds of powers of lies. These antichrists are growing daily in number these days. We must not be afraid of these people. Because, we know and believe the Truth, Jesus Christ. We know our mistakes and sins and willing to be exposed by the same Lamb who sacrificed for us. “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and have all received the knowledge.” (1 Jn.2:20). True believers never leave the Lord and the Way. They endure all pains and frustrations with Jesus and emerge victoriously. The responsorial Psalm praises, “Let the heaven rejoice and earth be glad.” (Ps.95:11). The Gospel presents Jesus is the eternal Truth and is God. The light of Truth exposed the darkness of sin through his suffering and death. Jesus lives in each one of us as a believer and the child of God. So let us go forward with the flames of hope to welcome the New Year ahead of us. May God bless you.
