It is 16th February 2016. The readings are from Isaiah 55:10-11; and the Gospel from Matthew 6:7-15. The first reading teaches us that God’s Word is not futile and void. The Word of God nourishes our souls and completes the Will of God in our lives. God’s gifts never return to God empty. God achieves God’s will anyway. There is no half way or unproductive way in God’s will in our lives. The responsorial Psalm prays, “The Lord rescues the just in all their distress.” (Ps.33:18). The Gospel offers the most perfect prayer. The compendium of the values of the Gospel is the Lord’s prayer. Every prayer that is presented to God with the credibility of assurance and astuteness in forgiving others. Every single tiny prayer we make to the Lord reaches God. The answers we receive or do not receive depends on our willingness to forgive others. Most of our prayers are unanswered just because of our attitude, the ego and the pride to let go off the past painful memories against one another. Lack of compassion is another huge obstacles in prayer. We all deserve mercy because we have the power to offer mercy. Since we are benefiting the ocean of mercy from God, we need to share the immensity of mercy with the others. God’s mercy will never return back to God without drenching us personally and making us to soak the others with the power of mercy. Our dispositions in prayer makes the gifts of God grow rich and beneficial. “Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your Heavenly Father will forgive you yours; but if you do not forgive other, your Father will not forgive your failings either.” (Mt. 6:15).
