It is 27th March 2016. We celebrate the Easter Sunday. Happy Easter to all of you. The readings are from Acts 10:34, 37-43; Colossians 3:1-4; and the Gospel from John 20:1-9. The entrance antiphon acclaims, “I have risen, and I am with you still. Alleluia. You have laid your hand upon me, alleluia. Too wonderful for me, this knowledge, alleluia, alleluia.” (Ps.139:5-6). In the first reading, St. Peter offers a convincing witness that Jesus is risen and appeared to his followers and entrusted the power to proclaim and to believe in Life and Forgiveness of sins through Jesus. “This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible, not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him after He rose from the dead.” (Acts. 10:41). The responsorial Psalm praises, “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.” (Ps.118:24). The second reading invites us to become a new people by looking up to Heaven. Our life must be focused towards the Risen Lord. We need to be the bringer of hope and to seek the best through Jesus. “For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Col. 3:3). The Gospel brings out the glorious truth about the empty tomb. Jesus is truly risen, alleluia. The Catechism teaches us in no.654, “The Paschal mystery has two aspects: by his death, Christ liberates us from sin; by His resurrection, He opens for us the way to a new life. It brings about filial adoption so that men and women become Christ’s brethren, as Jesus himself called his disciples after his Resurrection: ‘Go and tell my brethren.’ We are brethren not by nature, but by the gift of grace, because that adoptive filiation gains us a real share in the life of the only Son, which was fully revealed in His Resurrection.” May the Risen Lord help us to understand the profound meaning of His Resurrection. May you all have a peaceful and blessed Easter.
