It is 30th January 2017. The readings are from Hebrews 11:32-40; and the Gospel from Mark 5:1-20. The first reading describes about the heroes and heroines of faith. All that humanly impossible things were achieved by the unflinching faith and searching for the truth. In fear, we begin to stumble and perform the least. Indeed the unreasonable fear is not only the enemy of the body but also to the soul. Most of our sins happen due to our fear. Lack of faith produces the fear. Fear is the byproduct of our obsession to someone or something. The regularly dominating impulse to do something evil uncontrollably and frequently is the obsession. The ordinary becomes the extraordinary when we begin to have such deep faith in God. Only through faith in God, we are set free from bondage of any obsession. The wings of prayers and sacrifices make our faith go beyond all human telling. It is really difficult to believe in the odd and challenging moments of lives. In fact, these are the opportunities of celebrating our faith not to be considered as the testing times. “These are all heroes of faith, but they did not receive what was promised, since God had made provision for us to have something better, and they were not to reach perfection except with us.” (Heb.11:39, 40). The responsorial Psalm tributes, “Let your heart take courage, all who hope in the Lord.” (Ps.30:25). The Gospel proves the power of Jesus over the multitude of demons manifested in a person. Yes, Jesus sets a man free from the bondages and the clutches of the devils. When we have been touched and healed by Jesus, we need to be a missionary for Jesus starting from our family of origin and to the rest of the families around. “Go home to your people and tell them all that the Lord in his mercy has done for you.” (Mk.5:19). We too need to spread the power of Jesus in our lives with others. When was the last time we shared our faith encounters of healing and renewal from Jesus with someone? Faith becomes stronger and meaningful when we share the moments of faith. Let us stop spreading fear and lies and engage in spreading the power of Jesus to everyone we meet. May you have a good day. May God bless you.
