Encountering the complete truth in Christ
It is 24th May 2017. The readings are from Acts 17:15, 22-18:1; and the Gospel from John 16:12-15. The most powerful way of sharing the Good News with the ones who have no idea of Jesus needs the power of the Holy Spirit to be innovative and creative in the way we present the Gospels. The first reading explains that how St. Paul preached and convinced those who are swollen-headed by their way of knowing and debating with the knowledge of Philosophy. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we too can address any type of person showing their spiritual spots that are not known to them. We need to begin with what others have already known and be familiar with to a deeper knowledge and wisdom that is revealed in Christ Jesus. Leading them gradually away from their understanding of having a national god, home-grown god, cultural-god, traditional god, temple-confined god to a living God who wish to reside in the hearts and lives of people. Convincing them that it is them need who need God not the other way around. Leading others from the known to the un-known, from fake to truth, from reality to the ideal is indeed the task of every believer in Christ. It is not always the quantity that matters rather the quality of the message that we preach and believe. There will be always a group of people to undermine and laughing at what we say and share in every place we present the message of Christ. We must never give up sharing the Good News no matter how many oppose and reject it. The responsorial Psalm acclaims, “Your glory fills all heaven and earth.” (Ps.148:14). The Gospel points out that the revelation of God is not man’s invention rather it is purely the gift of God. God leads us all to the complete truth in Jesus through guidance of the Spirit of Truth. God reveals in God’s only beloved Son Jesus when we are truly open and receptive to the truth, the way, the life in Jesus. God the Spirit is the one who can lead us to the complete truth. “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you to the completing truth.” (Jn.16:13). May you have a good day.
