Acknowledging God’s love in human encounters.
It is 31st May 2017. We celebrate the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Visitation of our Beloved Mother Mary teaches us that whatever the higher position or status we have, we need to avail ourselves always to all people charitably. It is the meeting between two women reminding each other the sacred space of God and its influence in their personal life and glorifying God for all that God has done. When genuine and humble human spirits encounter each other, they encounter and enjoy the company and compliments from the Spirit of God. The readings are from Zephaniah 3:14-18 and the Gospel from Luke 1:39-56. God assures through the prophet Zephaniah that God is amidst us and constantly renewing God’s love and removing all fears from our lives. “The Lord has removed the judgment against you…The Lord is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear… Fear not, be not discouraged.” (Zeph.3:15,16). The responsorial Psalm praises, “Among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.” (Is.12:6). The Gospel describes the Visitation of Mary and Elizabeth. The outcome of the meeting is the hymn of Mary: the Magnificat. The spiritual impact that brought about in the body of Elizabeth because of Mother Mary. “Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Lk:1:45). Does our meetings and encounters with the other persons have a physical impact and to evoke the presence of the Holy Spirit? A fruitful visitation and meeting with the other person displays not only the deep expressions of love but also to have the experiences of the spark of the Spirit of God? We need to grow much more deeper in the consciousness of God and to acknowledge duly the mighty works done by God in our lives in every moments of meetings, visitations and deliberations of our lives.
