It is 1st December 2017. It is the first Friday of the brand-new month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The readings are from Daniel 7:2-14; and the Gospel from Luke 21:29-33. The vision of Daniel reveals the impending reign of God and God’s judgment. All the tyrant and arrogant rulers have been brought down by the mighty Hand of God. The voices of the people are heard when God breathes His Spirit into inmost beings of those who are oppressed continuously. It is through the eyes of faith, we can see God’s Hand clearly in the signs that are emerging in our human history. Though the mighty people look irreplaceable in front of our eyes, but not in front of the Eyes of the Almighty. With the help of the Word of God, we can read the signs of the times and interpret them in the light of faith in Jesus. We must not be naïve about the world and the happenings of the world always. We need to accept that as there are many good people around us so there are many good things are happening around. We need to focus our eyes on the One who has power to save us all from perils and dangers. Human powers may not be always right, flawless and perfect yet God will not and cannot disappoint us. In the Son of Man, Jesus Christ there is going to be a fair and just judgement. “The Son of Man received dominion, glory, and kingship; nations and peoples of every language serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed.” (Dn. 7:13,14). The responsorial Psalm appeals, “Give glory and eternal praise to God.” (Dn.3:59). We are reminded that the world order and its grandeur will pass away but not the power and the presence of the Word of God in our lives. May God give us the wisdom to perceive the things that happening around us to hold the Hands of God. May you have a good day.
