It is 29th May 2018. The readings are from 1 Peter 1:10-16; and the Gospel from Mark 10:28-31. Hope is the power that makes us all to live on come what may. Hope is the spiritual energy that God will stand by me and the situations are in the hands of God and eventually everything is going to be well. Hope flourishes in the environment of holiness. We have the unwavering hope in Jesus Christ. To be holy one needs to surrender to the will of God and the acceptance of the plan of God in all situation. We are all invited God to participate in the holiness of God. This personal holiness requires unquestionable hope in Christ Jesus, and willing to be different in an indifferent world that wants everything now. “Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; for it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Pet.1:16). It is grace that brings us all this far. Our willingness to move out of our sinful living constantly and beginning to obey without any force or dictation from anyone. Truth begins to reside in us and we become the followers of the Truth only when we are transparently exposing ourselves to the Good News of salvation and love of God. The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord has made known his salvation.” (Ps.97:2). The Gospel offers hope for entering into the everlasting happiness. It is by giving up the things we love most for a noble cause will be rewarded with such everlasting life. The quality of Christian life depends on our choices and selection of being free of all attachments from the world. When we begin to put God first and work for the kingdom of God through our sacrifices, we do not look for reward and gratification now. “But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.” May the Lord help us to be holy as we offer our ourselves to God. May you have a good day. God bless you.
