It is 1st January 2020. We celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. The readings are from Numbers 6:22-27; the second reading is from Galatians 4:4-7; and the Gospel from Luke 2:16-21. At the outset, I wish you all a happy and peaceful New Year2020 with its blessings throughout the year. May God multiply the blessings in your life and may we continue to live by faith and walk the talk by mercy. May our Beloved Mother Mary intercede for us all and for all our families so that all our families have enough spiritual and material blessings through her unceasing intercession wrapped in Her motherly love. His Holiness Pope Francis in his New Year 2020 messages encourages us to have peace as our goal of our lives and families. On 1st January 2020, for the celebration of 53rd World Day of Peace, Pope Francis offers a message of peace: “Peace as A Journey Of Hope: Dialogue, Reconciliation And Ecological Conversion. He proposes five insights on peace: 1. Peace, a journey of hope in the face of obstacles and trial; 2. Peace, a journey of listening based on memory, solidarity and fraternity; 3. Peace, a journey of reconciliation in fraternal communion; 4. Peace, a journey of ecological conversion; 5. “We obtain all that we hope for.” The first reading offers the blessing of God to people of Israel and to us. Whatever happens during this year is happening for the good of us and good of the humanity. We must never lose hope in any moment of our life and never be tired of promoting peace, harmony and tranquillity in and around us. The responsorial Psalm intercedes, “May God bless us in his mercy.” (Ps.67:2). We are reminded in the second reading that the birth of Jesus is through a poor woman within the parameters of the Law that offers us all to become sons and daughters of God. God does not want us to continue living in the slavery of sin and death and through the incarnation of Jesus we are now free and liberated to do the will of God. As our mother, Mary we need to keep everything in prayer and in the hands of God. Mary our beloved mother is the Mother of God being a humble handmaid and generous disciple of Her beloved Son Jesus. Whatever happens in our life, we need to bring it to the Lord to bless them just like Mary, our mother. May our resolution for the New Year include God so as to be blessed by God. The bearer of God, Mary is the abode of God. Let our life glorify God like that of the shepherds who visited the Infant Jesus. May our actions and words unfold the compassionate and merciful face of God through Jesus in our life. Even if fail to be an inspiration, let us never be a scandal in our life. May God bless each one of us to accomplish the will and plan of God throughout this brand-New Year 2020. “May Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you his peace.” (Num. 6:22-24). May the peace of the Lord remain in us, our families, communities and in our work environment in this New Year 2020. May the divine name Jesus be there everywhere and whatever we intend to do in our life. Praying with you and blessing you and requesting your blessings and prayers for me to do the ministry that is entrusted to me. Happy and peaceful New Year 2020 to you all. Have a good day.
