Good morning, Good People,
It is 11th October 2025. We reflect on Joel 3:12-21 and the Gospel from Lk. 11:27-28. We celebrate the memorial of Saint John XXIII and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
St. John XXIII reminds us, “Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”
Are we the abode of God or a cupboard of evil?
The first reading brings out the horror, punishment, and rewards of the Day of Judgment of the Lord. We will all be gathered in the Valley of Jehoshaphat, which means “Yahweh judges.” The prophet warns us to repent and to rid ourselves of complacency with God.
The evil of the world will come to an end by the rule of God.
Forgiveness is a sure gift for those who repent and call on God. Everyone will come under God’s judgment. All those who are hostile to God will be brought closer to God’s mercy and forgiveness.
God will restore His original beauty, with the fountain flowing from God’s temple symbolically revitalizing the spiritual fertility of His people.
This restoration will include holiness, peace, prosperity, and joy for all those who love and fear the Lord.
The responsorial Psalm prays: “Rejoice, you just, in the Lord.” (Ps. 96:12)
The Gospel applauds Mary, mother of Jesus. When a woman began to praise the mother of Jesus, Jesus replied, “Still happier those who hear the Word of God and keep it.” (Lk. 11:28) Jesus emphasizes that true blessedness lies not only in being His mother but in heeding the Word of God.
A blessed life does not depend on longevity, worldly success, fame, power, or wealth. Blessedness is found in minds free of fear, anxiety, and misery, wrapped in life, love, and joy. When we realize that God dwells in us and that we are the dwelling place of God, we are truly blessed.
Our beloved Mother Mary became the true dwelling abode of God. Our life of charity, service, and humility, integrated with honesty and generosity, is the proof of our blessedness.
Mother Mary not only heard the Word of God but also treasured it in her heart. All praises and honour we offer to our Mother Mary are due and praiseworthy.
May God give you peace.
