Good morning, good people,

May the Lord give you peace and blessings in the Holy Spirit.

It is 9th October 2025. We celebrate the memorials of Saint Denis, Bishop, and his companions; Saint John Leonardi, Priest; and Saint Abraham, Patriarch.

We reflect on Malachi 3:13–20 and the Gospel of Luke 11:5–13.

Is it futile or fertile to serve God?

We learn from St. Abraham, Patriarch, “Faith is the journey of one who leaves everything in the hands of God and walks toward the promise.”

The sentiments expressed by the people of Israel after returning from Babylon are often echoed in our own lives. At times, just like them, we too feel it is futile to serve God amid doubt and fear:

“‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we count the arrogant happy. Certainly, evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’” (Mal 3:14–15)

Yet, God never forgets His people and always rewards faithfulness. Seeing the wicked prosper, we may feel useless in serving Him, but the Psalm reminds us: “Malachi 3:13–20 Malachi 3:13–20 ”

St. Denis reminds us: “The more one loves, the more one prays; and prayer itself is the flame of love rising toward God.”

Life is complicated and often unjust, yet those who strive to live morally, lovingly, and truthfully will never be forgotten. The Gospel calls us to persevere in prayer:

“Ask, and it will be given to you.” (Lk 11:9)

Our Father in Heaven cares for us, no matter who we are or what we face.

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Lk 11:13)

Let us continue to pray with faith, even when prayers seem unanswered and life feels heavy with trials. Perseverance in prayer turns what feels futile into something truly fertile in grace.

May God bless you.
