Good morning, Good People,

May the Lord give you peace, health, and happiness in the Holy Spirit.  It is 19th August 2025.

We reflect on Judges 6:11-24 and the Gospel of Matthew 19:23-30.

Are we trusting the Lord always or rusting in our doubts?

All of us are gifted and blessed by God, yet out of fear of the future and by undermining the power of God within us, we often hesitate to confront the issue, person, or situation before us.  At times, we imagine that others have all the power to bring us down, while in truth, God is waiting for us to exercise the power already invested in us.

“Why do all these things happen if the Lord is with us?” This was not only Gideon’s question, but ours too.  Yet Scripture answers: “The Lord is peace.” (Judges 6:24).  To those listening to every other voice but the Master’s, the Lord assures: “Peace be to you; do not fear.” (Judges 6:23).  The responsorial psalm confirms this: “The Lord speaks of peace to His people.”

St. Teresa of Calcutta remarked once: “Peace begins with a smile.”

Whatever impossibility lies before us, it becomes possible when we trust the Lord completely.  “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26).  The events unfolding within us, around us, and in the world may not give us courage—but the Lord promises to stand by us, empowering us to achieve whatever we truly believe in Him.  None of us can blame God for our inability to use the gifts He has given us.  The battle is not lost because of power outside us, but because the war within us keeps us locked down spiritually.

Self-reliance is the loud echo of the world today.  Yet Jesus tells us: “But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.” (Matthew 19:30).  It is not wealth or status that makes us worthy of heaven, but our fidelity and humility before the Lord.  Money cannot buy God, nor can riches draw us closer to Him.  Only love and charity towards our brothers and sisters invite God to come and dine with us.

May we truly trust the Lord above all things under the sun.

God bless you.
