Good morning, Good People!
May the Lord give you peace and blessings in the Holy Spirit. It is 16th June 2025. We reflect on 2 Cor 6:1-10 and Matthew 5:38-42.
Are we witnessing or counter-witnessing to faith? Are we giving or giving up?
St. John of the Cross inspires us, “In the evening of life, we will be judged on love alone.”
We are called to shine the light of Christ, even when we are wounded or overlooked by the very people we are trying to serve. There is no reason to waste the goodness and generosity that God has infused into our being. We must resist the need for praise, appreciation, or recognition.
What we need is to build a spiritual character that enables us to withstand and persevere through the unrelenting, uncharitable winds of suffering and pain.
St. Paul encourages us to demonstrate our faithfulness in Christ by becoming humble and unassuming servants: “In an acceptable time, I heard you, and on the day of salvation, I helped you.” (Isaiah 49:8)
Being truthful and honest with ourselves is the foundation of all true happiness. Let us not grow weary trying to prove ourselves to others. The moment we forget that we are the sacred space where God desires to dwell eternally, we begin to clutter that space with ego, bitterness, and comparison. We must constantly clear that inner space — so it may house not only God, but also those who struggle to see or believe in God.
Let us strive to live lives that please the Lord, shielding ourselves from the heavy storms that threaten our purpose and peace. This becomes possible when we give without expecting anything in return, even when it costs us dearly. It is far better to give from our hearts than from our leftovers.
Jesus calls us to be living examples of selfless generosity: “Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.” (Matthew 5:42)
In our giving, we proclaim to the world that we believe in the One who gave everything — His life — for the salvation of all. We may not always reach the hearts of those who mock or oppose us, but we will surely act in a way that pleases God, and that alone will bring blessing.
May the Lord give us courage to give in a way that reminds the world we are here to serve, not to be served.
Have a day of joyful generosity. May God bless you richly.
