Good morning, good people!

May the Risen Lord give you peace.  It is 02nd May 2025.  We reflect on Acts 5:34–42 and John 6:1–15.  We have the memorial of Saint Athanasius, Bishop, Doctor.

Have we shared enough?

During a famine in a war-torn village, a mother and her three children had nothing left to eat but one small loaf.  She heard a stranger knock on her door, hungry and trembling, asking for food. The mother, torn between fear and faith, looked at her children and then at the bread. She broke it in half and gave one part to the stranger. The next morning, neighbors arrived—each bringing food, not knowing of the mother’s sacrifice. The stranger? No one ever saw him again. The mother wept and whispered, “The Lord came to my house hungry, and I didn’t send Him away.”

“If you have not shared enough, you have not lived enough.”

We are here to multiply everything entrusted to us and put it to good use for God’s people.

There is no miracle of multiplication without sincere sharing. As Gamaliel wisely said: “If this plan or undertaking is of human origin, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow it.” — Acts 5:38-39

This is a reminder that when our efforts flow from God, they bear fruit—unstoppable and undeniable. When we share, we do not seek personal glory, applause, or recognition—but give back to the God who trusted us to share with the poor, the lonely, and the hungry.

Pope Francis gently reminds us: “Jesus does not ask us to store up goods for ourselves, but to share them with others… In God’s eyes, what matters is not what we possess, but what we give.” (Pope Francis, Homily on the Miracle of the Loaves, 2019)

Too often we are inspired to share… but that’s not enough. Sharing must become as natural as breathing. A life full of sharing is a life overflowing with blessings.

The Psalmist prays in today’s Responsorial Psalm: “One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.” — Psalm 27:4

When we share with others, we help build God’s house—not of stone, but of love. No one can stop a good deed done with a pure heart—no agenda, no strings attached.

Our sharing draws others closer to the Giver of all gifts, and in turn brings us closer to our own humanity. In the Gospel, Jesus takes five loaves and two fish, gives thanks, and distributes them.

“And they all ate as much as they wanted. When they were satisfied…” — John 6:11 Jesus didn’t wait for more food—He gave thanks for what was already there.

It’s now our turn: Take the little we have, lift it with gratitude, and share it in God’s economy of love.

May the Risen Lord bless each one of you to open your heart, to share your table, and to feed the body and soul of another.
