May the Lord give you peace, health, and happiness in the Holy Spirit.
It is 4th July 2024.
We reflect on Amos 7:10-17 and Matthew 9:1-8.
Are you an option or a choice?
Complainers can neither contaminate nor corrupt the truth.
Truth cannot be expelled from the courtyards of believers.
Truth examines the way we are and expels the toxic and pathological lies and sins in our life.
There is always a less demand for truth in the economy of humanity.
Is there a correlation between sin and sickness, health and healing, faith, and faithfulness?
In the first reading, the prophet Amos was the instrument of God for bringing truth. The royal priest and the king were not ready to receive the prophecy from Amos.
Prophetic voices are suppressed by the powerful people. Yet, truth shines out amidst the artificially darkened clouds of the humanity.
The responsorial Psalm praises, “The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them just.”
By healing a paralytic man, Jesus demonstrated the power of healing that required the forgiveness of sins. People remain sick when clouded by guilt and shame. In facing our true self and dealing with our false self, we encounter God and the gift of healing. To breathe truth, one needs to remove the mask of lies and sin.
People might complain and hate us for being the witness of truth and pointing out the evil around. When our life is truthful, honest, sincere, and transparent, we do not need to be afraid of the noises of people of lies.
The challenge of Amos and Jesus is faced also by us who stand for truth.
“Some people were carrying a paralyzed man lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” (Mt.9:2,3).
Sin paralyses our soul and body. Our sickness is not a punishment rather the effect of what is going on right inside the person displayed in the surface. Physical sickness is only a symptom but the root cause of it is obvious.
When we lose balance, tune and connection with God, others, and cosmos we begin to feel the dis-ease within ourselves. In that sense, sin is the disorder while sickness is the disease. Jesus is interested in dealing with our disorder as well as the diseases of all kinds.
Through the faith of our parents and friend we too are brought near Jesus. Seeing the faith of our parents and friends, at times, we receive the blessings and healing to begin a new journey, relationship and witnessing life.
We need to acknowledge God, the Truth in order experience peace and bliss in our life. May you have a good day. God bless you.
