May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit. It is 4th November 2023. We celebrate the memorial of St Charles Borromeo, Bishop. We reflect on Romans 11:1-2, 11-12, 25-29; and the Gospel from Luke 14:1, 7-11.
The rejection of the one person paves the road for another person’s reconciliation with God.
St. Paul defends God in the first reading. He points out that God is always generous to all people. It is the attitude of us make us either the recipients or resistors of the salvation and the Messiah. It is purely an individual decision one must make according to one’s conscience and faith one holds.
God does not reject anyone even one chooses to reject God’s offer of salvation. Even if the Chosen Ones reject God, God does not reject them. God still waits for their acceptance time immemorial. God is not angry on anyone just because they have chosen not to accept God.
Salvation is something personal and intimate. It is always offered individually. God’s love is immeasurable and does not depend on the human response. God loves us just because God is love. God does not alter God’s love according to our docility and openness to receive.
The responsorial Psalm assures us, “The Lord will not abandon his people.” (Ps.93:14).
The Gospel teaches us the need for humility in our social lives. Humility is the gift of God to those who believe in Him. The fruit of our deep faith in Jesus evokes the sentiments of humility as a virtue in our lives. Pride could lead to embarrassment in public and in private lives.
Our place before God is what matters not what we have before people. Some will surely reject us anyway. We do not need to hold ourselves responsible for their rejection. God has not rejected us in anyway. Let us confirm our places in Heaven with the Lord by practicing humility.
“For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Lk.14:11).
May you have a good day.
