Dear People of God,
Reading of the day: First Reading 1 Jn 4:11-18; Gospel Mk 6:45-52
It is 7th January 2015. Today’s readings address about fear among the followers of Jesus. “There is no fear in love…. those who fear do not know perfect love.” (1 Jn 4:18). Some of us have unreasonable fears. Some others are afraid of anything and everything. In some moments of our lives, fear grips our lives. Fear disappears when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ fully and bring him out through our way of life. People must be able to witness Christ in our lives. When we believe that God is in our lives, there is no fear. Whenever we find it hard to believe in the Lord and His power, the fear pops up in our lives and continues to occupy the rest of our lives. Fear blunts our faith in the Lord. Fear makes us to pretend before God while perfect love chases fear from our lives. The Gospel assures us with the words of Jesus, “Courage! It is I; do not be afraid.” (Mk.6:50) Why should we afraid of anything in this world? Fear makes our spiritual life go dull. We begin to believe the lies as truth and our refusal to accept the truth is the state of being dull. Have we grasped the meaning of the Eucharist? Have we understood the commandment of love in practical way? It is God’s love that can only purify our minds and hearts to be free from fear. May the Lord bless you. Live a life free from fear and moments full of love.
