Dear People of God,
It is 15th January 2015. The readings are taken from Heb.3:7-14; and the Gospel Mk 1:40-45. The first reading is narrating the reason for which this letter to Hebrew was written. “Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart, so as to forsake the living God. But exhort one another every day.” (Heb3:12-13). The letter is urging us to respond to God as soon as we hear God talking to us. Let not our heart become hardened because one reason or another. Let us be generous to God and to be gentle in leading others to God in charity. The Responsorial Psalm reiterates, “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Ps 95:8). Our hearts become hardened when selfishness grows within ourselves. When our world is shrunk within ourselves, our heart is hardened and refuse to listen to the voice of God. It is our personal initiatives that change our lives from selfishness to selflessness. Today’s Gospel miracle is the one we read a week back from the Gospel of Luke 5:12-16. We hear today “if you but wish, you can make me clean.” Notice the strong faith this leper had on Jesus. He believed that he could be healed by Jesus. He put the entire trust in Jesus in asking for healing. The leper came near Jesus and Jesus touched him. He took the initiative and Jesus changed his life. In our lives, when we have some kind of spiritual leprosy, we need to move towards Jesus. No matter what it takes; we need to go near Jesus hoping to be touched and healed by Jesus. No matter how ugly we can be inside, yet Jesus is willing to heal us. Let us take that one step towards Jesus. May God bless you.
