It is 08th March 2015. The Third Sunday of the Lent. It is the Women’s day. We wish all our mothers, sisters and friends a happy and memorable day. May you always be our source of inspiration and strength for the entire humanity. Today’s readings are from Exod. 20:1-17; 1 Cor.1:22-25 and the Gospel from Jn. 2:13-25. The first reading narrates that the Ten Commandments for guiding God’s new nation. They are the basis of our religious and spiritual life. God has to become the centre of all our lives. God’s name must be sacredly kept in our lives. We are expected to rest amidst our hectic lives and worship God on the day of rest. God expects us to talk well of our parents and respecting them. God’s people must not tell half-truths, twisting the facts, and inventing falsehood. We are expected not to wish or to have the possessions of the others. The second reading reminds us to proclaim the crucified Christ and the spirit of the Cross during this Lent. Christ is the Wisdom and the Power of God. Others consider that cross is the weakness of God and foolishness of God. Yet, “The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” (1 Cor.1:25). The Responsorial Psalm sings, “Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.” (Jn. 6:68c). The Gospel presents the sacredness of the Temple. “Zeal for your house consumes me.” (Ps.69:9). Jesus quotes Zech 14:21, “Stop making my father’s house a marketplace.” Let us keep our places of worship free from socializing, marketing and business. We are expected clean our temples inside and around to be worthy places where we meet our God. May you have a blessed day.
