It is 25th June 2015. The readings are from Gen.16:1-12, 15-16 and the Gospel from Mt. 7:21-29. The first reading explains the experience of lack of faith in God brings many problems. God wanted Abram and Sarai to trust in God totally. Sarai lacked faith in God and took the situation in her own hand and everything went against her and her decisions. Sarai was not that much willing to let God act in her life. Instead of waiting on God’s promises, she took the situation in her hand and rushing for results against God’s will. She ill-treated her maid servant and blamed Abram for her decisions. Sarai took matters in her own hand against God’s plans, Abram who went along with the plan and Hagar who ran away from the problem created pain for each other because of lack of trust in God’s plan. Finally, it is God who solved all the problems in their lives. Running away from a problem will not help us anyway. We need to learn to trust God however complicated the situation in our lives be and how much time God takes to tackle the issue in our lives. The responsorial Psalm sings, “O give thanks to the Lord for He is good.” (Ps.105:1). The Gospel recommends us to have the right intentions in fulfilling the will of God in our lives. Doing matters than empty and motivating words. Jesus exposed people who seemed religious outwardly and had no spiritual relationship with God. It is our faith in Jesus and the impact of faith shown through charity matters before God. It is not how many hours we display in calling God matters rather what we do after that truly matters. “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise person who built the house on the rock.” (Mt. 7:24). Let us trust God our shelter and our Rock. May you have a good day.
