It is 02nd October 2015. We celebrate the memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels. The readings are from Exod. 23:20-23 and Mt.18:1-5,10. The first reading promises us that we are given an angel to guard us from evil and to lead us to God. They are heavenly spirits given by God to watch over us while we are living on earth. The Guardian Angel is always there to guide us to have noble thoughts, words and deeds and to warn us of impending spiritual danger. St. Bernard urges us to have a close friendship with our Guardian Angel no matter how sinful and weak we may be. “See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared for you.” (Ex.23:20). The responsorial Psalm prays, “The Lord has put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways.” (Ps.90:11). In the Gospel, we are reminded that the angels of God are so close to God interceding for us. “I tell you, in heaven their angels continually see the face of my Father in heaven.” (Mt. 18:10) We all have our Guardian Angels. They reminds us the presence of God in our lives and lead us to God every moment. It is our duty to communicate with them and befriend them so as to benefit spiritually. Many saints have witnessed their physical presence in their lives. We too need to begin relating with them. We need their guidance and counsel more than ever in our lives. We must not ignore the words of our Guardian angels. May our Guardian Angel intercede for us and guide us to the eternal Truth Jesus daily. May God give you peace.
