It is 07th November 2015. The readings are from Rom.16:3-9, 16,22-27 and the Gospel from Lk.16:9-15. The first reading is the last chapter of the Romans in which St. Paul wants to mention so gratefully some persons by their name. He mentions 24 names out of which 19 are women from a higher social importance. They were of great support to St. Paul in his ministry. We need to be part of spreading the message of the Gospel through our sharing of our resources and availability. The responsorial Psalm prays, “I will bless your name for ever, O Lord.” (Ps.144:1). The Gospel gently reminds us to use the money to have spiritual influence than to have material affluence. God wants us to be honest in small matters such as money before entrusting us with heavenly wealth. It is all about integrity. We need to demonstrate God our faithfulness in dealing and using the riches of the world. Money can take the place of God if we are not careful. We can become the slave to money by thinking about it frequently. God does not look into our material possessions rather our spiritual faithfulness. “God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among people is detestable in God’s sight.” (Lk.16:15). Who do we wish to serve? Money or God? The approval of God does not depend on the wealth we hoard. Let us put the wealth of this world for the service of God in order to enjoy God’s friendship on earth. May God give you peace.
