It is 03rd December 2015. We celebrate the feast day of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Propagation of Faith. The readings are from Is.26:1-6 and the Gospel from Mt. 7:21,24-27. The first reading promises the intervention of God in the life of God’s people who place their trust in God. “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is the everlasting Rock.” (Is. 26:4). The responsorial Psalm praises, “Blessed in the name of the Lord is he who comes.” (Ps.117:26). The Gospel calls us to put our trust in God. We are expected to walk the talk. It is not just saying the right things matters rather it is doing the right thing counts. The contradictions come in our lives when we say things which we did not mean it yet we say it so convincingly and the outcome is the inevitable. It is like building a house on a running water. When the storms of life hit our shores of hopes so hard, where are we going to put our trust in? Our trust must be on the Lord so as to have grip of what is going on in and around our lives. People who seem to be religious and sound religious outwardly are like those who put their trust in their talking than living. Where are our lives heading to at this moment? “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise person who built the house on the rock.” (Mt.7:24). Our response to the Word of God is the foundation of our faith. Mere listening to the Word of God is not enough. We need to live it in our lives daily. May God bless you.
