It is 3rd March 2016. The readings are from Jeremiah 7:23-28; and the Gospel from Luke 11:14-23. The first reading points out our stubbornness in returning to the Lord. God is not tired of us even though our evil behaviours are growing so intimately. We are peripherally looking good but deep down there is a rebellion against God and allowing lies and pretentious attitude grow within ourselves. Jeremiah want us to look inside of ourselves and in the community we live. We may explain and expound our love for the created things so deeply while we find it hard to let go off the mistakes of the past in a human person. We find it truly hard to listen to the Lord. “Here is the nation that will not listen to the voice of the Lord its God nor take correction. Sincerity is no more, it has vanished from their mouths.” (Jer.7:28) We end up believing lies, liars and promote it wilfully because of the stubbornness of our hearts. We spend most of our lives masking, pretending and lying. When our life becomes a lie, we are intentionally murdering a loving God and a warm human relationships. Our pride and prestige sounds better than the truth and forgiveness. The responsorial Psalm reminds us, “O that today you would listen to his voice! Harden not your hearts.” (Ps.94:8). In the Gospel, Jesus encounters a resistant crowd. Jesus is much stronger than any evil whether it is human or Satanic in nature. We cannot deal with the deceptions, the cunningness and lies of Satan with our human skills. We need to take the side of Jesus while fighting against the evil. Whose side are we? God’s side or Satan’s side. Truth’s side or the lies side. It is all up to us. Let us make the choice for God and truth and live a happy life. Have a good day.
