It is 01st April 2016. The readings are from Acts 4:1-12; and the Gospel John 21:1-14. The first readings encourages us to be the witness for the Risen Jesus. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). To take the powerful you do not need to be an influential and educated person. The faith in the risen Lord alone is sufficient to encounter any authorities. Speaking out for Jesus means to take on anyone who opposes truth and life. If a fisherman like St. Peter could addresses the elders without fear, we can all stand up for Jesus too. Whenever we wish to stand up for Jesus, Holy Spirit comes to our aid with enough truth and courage. Easter time is the time to declare the mercies of the Lord who is the keystone of our being and existence. The responsorial Psalm praises, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the corner stone.” (Ps.117:22). The Gospel presents us with another beautiful encounter of the Risen Jesus by the Sea of Tiberias. Jesus reveals himself through a bountiful catch of fish and the disciples begin to recognise the Risen Lord. Jesus offers a great success to the apostles in their ordinary work of fishing. The Lord is inviting us to have a breakfast with Him. Jesus encourages the apostle Peter through this miraculous catch of fish. “They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.” (Jn.21:12,13). Whatever work we do Jesus can bring success when we are willing to dine with the Risen Jesus. May the Lord bless you and multiply your efforts in all you do and to recognise the presence of the Lord in your lives. May you have good day.
