It is 22nd April 2016. The readings are from Acts 13:26-33; and the Gospel from John 14:1-6. In the first reading, we continue to witness the teaching of St. Paul to the Jews and the Gentiles explaining them in detail about the plan of God for saving us and showing an extraordinary interests in our spiritual wellbeing. St. Paul tells them the good news of forgiveness and resurrection through Jesus. Even though the Son of God was rejected by them, God did not forget them. “You are my son: I have become your father.” (Act.13:33). The responsorial Psalm repeats by singing: “You are my Son. It is I who have begotten you this day.” (Ps.26:7). In the Gospel, we hear Jesus telling convincingly and openly that He is the passage to the Father because He is the way, the Truth and the Life. There is no shortcuts or a different way to know, love and to encounter the Father except Jesus. Fear and anxiety troubles our inner being. Trust and faith are the remedy to deal with such troubled lives. Jesus promises a place for each one of us in heaven. It is the responsibility of Jesus to take us to Heaven when He finds us worthy of the Way, the Truth and the Life. “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (Jn.14:3). On behalf of all of us, St. Thomas asked Jesus that how to know the way. Emphatically and clearly Jesus presents himself to each one of us as the path to the Father. Our new life is only through Jesus. We have nothing to struggle to prepare a way to Heaven. Our duty is to walk in the Way that Jesus has secured for us in Him and through Him. Jesus is the visible, tangible image of the invisible Father. Jesus is God and man and therefore He is the surer way to reach God. May we walk in His light daily. Have a good day.
