It is 31st December 2016. The last day of the year. With heart full of gratitude we all stand before our ever loving God. God has blessed us all throughout this year. We, each one of us have received enough to be thankful to the Lord. Even though we forgot him with our human weakness, God could not afford to forget us a minute. We thank our Beloved Mother Mary and all the Saints who accompanied us and interceded for us in every moment of this year. The readings of the day focuses on the Last Days. The readings are from 1 John 2:18-21; and the Gospel from John 1:1-18. We are reminded that we are all children of God and therefore we must not give up on the Way of Christ. A true believer cannot abandon the faith no matter what the situation one is in. Truth and Knowledge of God is revealed in Jesus Christ. We all need to recognize the spirit of Anti-Christ right within ourselves. Any element, personal in nature which opposes or abandons or distances itself from Christ is the Anti-Christ. We are all initiated and anointed by the Blood of the Lamb through the Sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation. The responsorial Psalm praises, “Let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad.” (Ps. 95:11). In the Gospel, once again we reflect the Prologue. Christ is the Word of God, who existed right from the very beginning. It is God who guides the current of the history. The passage reminds us of the glorious Incarnation, the virginal conception, and the ministry of John the Baptist. Since we are guided by the light of Christ revealed in the Truth and Wisdom of the Father, we need to be spiritually responsible and morally consistent and physically worthy daily to encounter Jesus in the Sacraments and in the Society. With the firm Hope in the Lord Jesus Christ, let us welcome the New Year 2017. May the Lord in His abundant goodness and mercy bless each one of us on the New Year Day and thereafter. May I wish you all a Happy and Peaceful New Year 2017. Have a great day.
