It is 10th January 2017. The readings are from Hebrews 2:5-12; snd the Gospel from Mark 1:21-28. The first reading presents us with the true identity of Jesus as the Son of God. As a human person He is below the ranks of the angels yet as the Son of God He is above them. And that is why Jesus could go through the suffering and pain like anyone of us. It is out of love for us all, Jesus went through this most painful and humbling act. True love bears all pain for the good of the others. Jesus sanctified us all and made us sons and daughters of God through His sufferings . It is His love for us that made us to be the recipients of all graces through Jesus. The responsorial Psalm praises, “You gave your son power over the works of your hand.” (Ps. 8:7). In the gospel we encounter Jesus casting out an unclean spirit. The spirit recognised Jesus as the Son of God and acknowledges this. When we teach what we practice, our impression can be felt all over. There is a certain amount of spiritual connection is established in a deeper level and healing is possible. Miracles do not happen by mere words. Casting evil needs a lot of spiritual energy that comes from the consistency of life and words which was so abundantly found in God-man Jesus Christ. Let us learn to recognise the power of Jesus and begin to blend our words in action. May you have a good day.
