It is 6th October 2017. We celebrate the memorial of St. Bruno. The readings are from Baruch 1:15-22; and the Gospel from Luke 10:13-16. Our unbiased and intense listening to the Words of the Lord has the desired impact on our lives as much the refusal brings the pain and suffering as confessed by the prophet Baruch in the first reading. “We did not listen to the voice of the Lord our God in all the words of the prophets whom he sent to us, but all of us followed the intent of our own wicked hearts by serving other gods and doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord our God.” (Bar.1:22). The prophet points out that the present suffering of the people due to their difficulty in listening to the voice of the Lord and doing their own things. The responsorial Psalm praises, “For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.” (Ps.79:9). In the Gospel, Jesus invites us to appreciate the presence and blessings of God in our lives. An outright refusal to acknowledge the goodness of God in the lives of the people lived in Chorazin and Bethsida. Our acceptance of Jesus is the acceptance of God himself. Whenever we fail to appreciate the presence of God through Jesus in our lives, we have failed to give credit to God and God’s care for us throughout the day. The time has come in our lives to examine how sincere are we in listening to the voice of the Lord and appreciating God’s presence. God has done enough miracles in our lives so as to bring us closer to God. What is that in us not allowing us to listen to God? Why are we constantly refusing to obey God? Our unbiased and open listening itself recognition and the respect God deserves in our lives. May God continue to grant us the courage to listen to His voice in our lives. May you have a good day.
