It is 3rd November 2017. We celebrate the memorial of St Martin de Porres, Bishop. The readings are from Romans 9:1-5; and the Gospel from Luke 14:1-6. The first reading speaks of the salvation of Jews. The offer of salvation to all people who have faith in God through His only Beloved Son Jesus starting from Jews to the non-Jews. St. Paul worked tirelessly for the salvation of all especially for his own people but at the end the chosen ones rejected Christ Jesus, the Messiah. He was very sad and anguished over the outright rejection of the Good News and the Messiah by the Chosen ones. What do we infer when we are sad and disappointed with the things that did not happen the way we wished? God in His supreme wisdom has the way. We are here to spread the fragrance of the goodness of the Lord, it is left to the freedom of others to inhale it. When the goodness is spread every nook and corner of the world, everyone would have the opportunity to feel the presence and the goodness of the Lord anyway. Let us not give up spreading the goodness of the Lord. We must move on and move forward to the other people. The responsorial Psalm acclaims, “O praise the Lord, Jerusalem.” (Ps.147:12). In the Gospel we are reminded that not to give up on others even when they plot against us. Even with the tremendous rejection and opposition, Jesus was not giving up healing and spreading the goodness of God. People can oppose you and give up on you, but God has not yet. So, let’s go on believing and spreading the love and warmth we enjoy in God. We too are invited specially to spread the fragrance of the Good News through our way of lives. May you have a good day. May God bless you.
