It is 8th December 2017. We celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. By a singular grace God preserved her from all original sin. No sin ever touched her and never was she tempted to sin or gave in to sinful situation. Mary, Mother of God picked by God as the New Eve from whom we are at peace with God through her only Beloved Son, our Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ. God’s love never got exhausted in her and it was ever growing as a finite being. God’s friendship and face-to-face relationship with the first parents got lost by their sheer disobedience and eventually God distanced His divinity from the fallen humanity. Only through the sinless conception of Mary and her unwavering cooperation to the will of God and through His grace, God reinstituted, reestablished and recompensed what was lost in humanity. God desired to reconcile the fallen humanity to Himself. The way God chose was the Immaculate Conception of Mary. God brought His Only Son through the sinless ever Virgin Mary. God saved the fallen humanity with the generosity and humility of the Blessed Virgin Mary. God preserved her from the Original Sin and filled her with sanctifying grace. The Immaculate Conception was proclaimed as a dogma in 1854 by Pope Pius IX. It means that it is to be accepted as an infallible statement of faith. Even though God did not allow any sin whatsoever to fall on Mary, God still offered her with free will and freedom of choice. Let our prayer be: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.” The readings are from Genesis 3:9-15, 20; the second reading is from Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12; and the Gospel from Luke 1:26-38. The most finest of all humanity is contained in the sinless birth of Mary. God cares for us all no matter how we distanced ourselves with our selfish choices that only included our pleasures and bodies. Mary remains as the model of holiness of life for all believers. Mary adorns as the crown of humanity, a beautiful Bride without spot or wrinkle. The first reading points out clearly that the entrance of sin in the lives of humanity and the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. In the second reading, St. Paul acknowledges that Mary’s Immaculate conception was the master plan of God for the salvation of humanity began in the garden of Gethsemane culminated at the mount of Golgotha. The responsorial Psalm praises, “Sing to the Lord a new song, for God has done marvelous deeds.” (Ps.98:1). The Gospel presents with the Annunciation to Mary clearly bringing out that She is the most favoured of the entire humanity. As Mary was prepared and spared from all stain of sin to bring Jesus into the world, so the Church prepares us during the Advent to cleanse and to remove sins from our very selves to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas. May you have a good day. Happy feast to you all. We have a Mother in Heaven who puts us closer to God and to her Son Jesus.
