It is 8th September 2018. We celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of Most Beloved Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. The readings are from Micah 5:1-4; and the Gospel from Matthew 1:1-6, 18-23. We read in the entrance antiphon, “Let us celebrate with joy the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, for from her arose the sun of justice, Christ our God.” Remembering and celebrating someone’s birthday is the expression of love and affection. We celebrate today the birthday of our Beloved Mother Mary. It is the day to show Her our gratitude for having given us Jesus and for having accepted the offer of salvation through Jesus Christ. We need to show our love to Mother Mary for her cooperation and willingness in participating in the salvific plan of God. It is our bounden duty to celebrate Her birthday because there is none like could intercede for our cause to Her Only Son Jesus. Mama, we love you so much, pray for us sinners. Mother Mary is the Tabernacle of Jesus. It is indeed so easy to go near Jesus through Her and by her prayers. Without You, Our Mother, we have no Jesus, and eventually no salvation. There is no one would have said that unwavering Yes to God like you did mother. Mother help us to be open to the Word of God as you did during this Bible month. As you gave flesh to the life of the Word of God and turned the Word of God into a human-divine person, Jesus Christ. May our reading, reflecting, living the Word of God bring out the values and virtues of the Gospel of Jesus. May we embrace and lead everyone to Jesus like you. Mother, broaden our views on those difficult people whom we live with in our communities, families and in society at large. God chose you to do an enormous sacrifice for the welfare fallen humanity. May we open to the call of God to render our lives for the upliftment of the society without counting the cost. We celebrate your birthday proudly because it is you who brought God so close to us in a human form. We would not have seen the Only Son of God without your motherhood and impeccable virginity. The first reading praises the one who is going to offer the Son who is our salvation. “From you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel.” (Mic.5:1). The Responsorial Psalm praises, “With delight I rejoice in the Lord.” (Is.61:10). The Gospel narrates the Annunciation and the unmatchable generosity of our Mother Mary. “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” (Mt.1:23). Let us thank our Mother Mary on her birthday for having made us all come closer to God by giving us Her Only Son Jesus. Thank you, Mother, for accepting the singular privilege and the greatest mission to lead us all to God through Christ. May we make effort to participate in the Holy Eucharistic celebration to render of our heartfelt gratitude to Her. If we say we love Mother Mary, let us show it by actions that proves it. May you have a good day. God bless you.
