Good morning good people may the Lord give you peace, health, and happiness in the Holy Spirit.
How do we feel when we are rejected by those whom we love genuinely?
It is 01st October 2024. We celebrate the memorial of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, the beloved “little soul,” “Little Flower of Jesus,” and co-patron of missions.
Her zeal to go around the world to spread the Gospel of love never died down even though she had been confined to her abode.
It is not the content of life but where and with whom we are connected. When we relate to God and people proportionally, our life becomes the content of the community.
Amazing moments are not easily found in fun-filled times. However, the closed and limited are the environment could be if we are open and generous we become connected and communicating with God as well as with people around.
In her memoir, ‘The Story of a Soul,’ St. Theres confesses that every soul could offer little things. “I can, then, in spite of my littleness, aspire to holiness. It is impossible for me to grow up, and so I must bear with myself such as I am, with all my imperfections. The elevator which must raise me to heaven is your arms, O Jesus! And for this, I had no need to grow up, but rather I had to remain little and become this more and more. But I want to seek out a means of going to heaven by a little way, a way that is very straight, very short, and totally new. I always feel, however, the same bold confidence of becoming a great saint, because I do not count on my merits, since I have none, but I trust in him who is Virtue and Holiness. God alone, content with my weak efforts, will raise me to himself and make me a saint, clothing me in his infinite merits.”
Nonetheless she offered prayers for the missions and her every little act was offered to God in prayer.
Wind of suffering cannot wipe us away when we have the wings of prayers. Job and Jesus faced outright rejection. Job got dejected while Jesus projected His vision clear in Jerusalem.
Rejection is the most painful feeling for us to live with. When we feel rejected by God and the significant persons in our life, we do not have any inner energy, hope, and faith to live for.
In her memoir The Story of a Soul, she said that she was just a very little soul and so she could only offer God very little things.
By constantly clinging to God and holding on to our faith, we can go through any tunnel of pain, suffering, and sorrow in our life.
Encountering the Lord in abject poverty, pain and rejection cement our hope. Any rejection could be overcome by our generosity to those who are in need and especially those in the bush of suffering and pain of rejection. May the Lord bless us to be generous and open to the rejected ones in our community and family. God bless you.
